Research interests include smoking cessation before surgery, pain management, anaphylaxis, anaesthesia in resource-poor countries, and human factors and safety in the operating theatre. The department is a member of the ANZCA Clinical Trials Network (CTN) and participates in a number of their multi-centre trials. The Department has published dozens of peer reviewed research articles in these areas over the last several years. Medical students and anaesthesia trainees are encouraged to participate in research activities.
