The Internal Medicine Research Group (IMRG) was established by a group of physicians within Peninsula Health to drive novel and clinically important research within the Department of Medicine. Current projects that are underway include an observational study of the experience of palliative care within general medicine, led by Dr Elisabeth Nye. Dr Chris Karayiannis is conducting research in the field of aged care, with current projects including a meta-analysis of blood pressure lowering for secondary stroke prevention in the elderly, and another project in the field of mechanisms of dementia in those with type 2 diabetes.
