Who cares for the carer? Co-designing a novel service to support the health and wellbeing of older carers of older people.

Dr Anjali Khushu

Family carers of older people provide essential support for the people they care for to remain ageing in place, and help save billions of dollars of public funds every year.[1] However, they often do this while neglecting their own health and well-being. This study will integrate data from multiple sources, including the Mornington Peninsula, but also elsewhere in Victoria, WA and a unique Carers’ Clinic in Brazil, to inform development of a novel carers’ health service model suitable for the Australian context.  A future project will pilot and evaluate this co-designed Australian Carers Clinic model at Peninsula Health and WA).
