Oncology & Haematology

The Peninsula Health Haematology and Oncology Clinical Trial Unit is dedicated to optimising the experience and outcomes of those in our community who are affected by a cancer diagnosis.
We are committed to expanding our research capacity and strengthening partnerships with academia, sponsors, contract research organisations and collaborators.

Peninsula Health is the only public healthcare facility on the Mornington Peninsula with acute services provided at Frankston and Rosebud Hospitals. Led by Dr Joanne Lundy and Dr Babak Tamjid, Interim Co-Heads of Oncology, and Dr Patricia Walker, Head of Haematology, the Unit has a dedicated team of Haematologists and Oncologists, who provide services for early cancer detection and diagnosis, various cancer treatment modalities including chemotherapy, targeted therapy, endocrine therapy, immunotherapy, and radiation therapy through referral to Frankston and Peninsula Private Hospitals.

Our ongoing focus is on patient-centred care through timeliness of care to reduce recurrence risks and improve survival rates particularly for those with early stage disease, reduction of unwanted variation in cancer management, patient education to empower and improve self-management as well as palliative care and support for those with advanced disease.
Our team, supported by a well-established and experienced Research Governance Office, has dedicated permanent clinical trial coordinators and research nurses. We have the capacity to undertake trials from Phase 1b through to Phase IV.
Our pharmacy, radiology and pathology departments are experienced in supporting clinical trials. With a team of 6 Research Nurse study coordinators we have delivered over 50 Haematology and Oncology clinical trials to 400 patients in the past 10 years.

Peninsula Health Haematology and Oncology Clinical Trial Unit is committed to expanding our research capacity in clinical trials and strengthening partnerships with academia, sponsors, contract research organisations and collaborators.
